The Federal State of Karnataka contribu-tes essentially to the Indian economical strength with her 54 million inhabitants. The capital Bangalore has a population of over 5 million being the Indian Silicon Val-ley said to be the City of the Future.
Bangalore is the city of universities and colleges headed by Visveswaraiah Tech-nological University VTU next to the high number of industries.
Since 1999 students and skilled workers have been taught diverse German tech-nologies at VTU.
Basing on this, the Indo German Institute of Technologies at VTU "IGIT" had been formed in cooperation with German and Indian partners.
In 2004, the first Linear Tribology Test Rig in Asia was installed in cooperation with the Fachhochschule Darmstadt at IGIT with financial support of the German Fe-deral Ministry for Education and Research BMBF.
Today the teaching offer for students and skilled workers of Indian industries com-prises six seminar series and five more are being set up mutually with the Hoch-schule Niederrhein and the RWTH Aachen.
Central cases will be in the branches automotive, machine building as well as chemistry and nano-technologies.
More than 1,200 participants in the semi-nars were taught so far.
